Every time after it shifts on its own — the arrival, lunch, the overnight. If the day now ends at ten at night, you find out at home instead of on the road.

Um ficheiro GPX guarda pontos, não distâncias. Numa rota planeada esses pontos ficam a dois quilómetros uns dos outros, e o que vai entre eles é medido a régua e esquadro — cada curva da serra é cortada em linha reta. A GPX file stores points, not distances. In a planned route those points sit two kilometres apart, and what happens between them is measured with a ruler — every mountain curve gets cut into a straight line.

The N2 file below came in reading 1294 km. The real road is 1417.3 km. Nearly 10% out, and it isn't the plan getting it wrong: it's what the file itself contains.
Por isso há uma caixa, logo no início, onde escreves a distância que a tua app mostra. Tudo se acerta a partir daí — quilómetros, tempos de condução, horas de chegada, tudo. Ou, mais simples ainda: exporta do Calimoto uma viagem já feita em vez de uma planeada, e o problema desaparece antes de existir.
